AC1-Human Excellence in Healthcare

Need for Human Excellence in Healthcare :

The concept of Human Excellence is related to a persons’ mental and spiritual development and its connection with value structure. The quality of being excellent means something which is eminently good, the best of its kind.

Just as Education, Healthcare is one such space that directly impacts human life. Hence, people who touch human lives need to be molded with compassion and empathy so as to treat the fellow beings with love. A caregiver needs to essentially be a good human being and that is why it is essential to integrate human values in the curriculum.

The Chaitanyam Institute for Human Excellence in Healthcare is an institution which has been built with an aim of building nation through compassionate healthcare. To achieve this end, the Institute has developed a unique curriculum to develop caregivers with human values of love, compassion and empathy.

The learning curriculum is based on four principles of Self Awareness, Self Confidence, Self Assessment, Self Control, which will bring in the transformation and help the students/ participants achieve Excellence with their talents and capabilities. This will be complemented with a quality core professional curriculum to enhance their skills and make them a holistic personality who will contribute to nation building within their sphere of influence. AC-2: B SC Nursing

Need for B Sc nursing :

With a Nurse to Population ration of 1:588, the country always faced an acute shortage of qualified Nurses, which came to the fore during the COVID 19 Pandemic, during which the nursing staff got subjected to extreme stress and also exposed them to the risks of contracting the virus, in addition to making the population face the crisis.

The founder of modern Nursing, Florence Nightangale said “Wise and humane management of the patient is the best safeguard against infection” and who else can do this other than a Nurse. The word “humane“ is of utmost importance, for it connotes a far higher divine quality humans are endowed with viz patience, love and compassion. In honor of celebrating the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightangale, World Health Organization has designated year 2020, as the “Year of the Nurse and Midwife” for strengthening the universal Healthcare system.

To address these gaps and as our offering of gratitude to this great nation, Chaitanyan Institute of Human Excellence in Healthcare, has embarked on this sacred and noble education initiative of providing a full time 4 year course in B Sc Nursing (for girl students), free of tution fees and with emphasis on Experiential learning for “humane” development of caregivers as Nurses.

Simulation Based Certification Programs

Simulation lab :

Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in recent times. It is estimated that 95% of the victims of cardiac arrest die before they reach a hospital or source of emergency help. Once the heart ceases to function, a healthy human brain may survive upto 4 minutes without suffering any permanent damage. Unfortunately, a typical Emergency Medical response may  take 6 to 10 minutes to arrive. It is during those critical or golden minutes that Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) can provide oxygenated blood to the victim’s brain and the heart, increasing the chances of survival.

The simulation lab will have training for basic and advanced skills for cardio pulmonary resuscitation of adult and child. The centre will also have basic resuscitation training for the citizens.

The lab will have state of the art simulators for training medical personnel in various emergency scenarios that they could face with a patient. This will keep them well prepared to handle a critical face when they face one. Such a comprehensive training facility will be a landmark in healthcare for Thane.

The institute plans to offer simulation based training and certification programs for students and practicing medical professionals.

The simulation based programs aims at:
1) Provide real time experiences using simulators thereby increasing the chances of saving patient live
2) Re-skilling practicing medical professionals
3) Reducing learning curve for the students
4) Provide employment and service opportunities to medical professionals and students
